6-Month Training Structure
The PRS Educational Training program is organized into six months of guided instruction. Each month builds on foundational peer support concepts and develops practical knowledge for recovery-oriented support work.
Introduction to peer support, the recovery model, the role of lived experience, ethics, professional boundaries, cultural competency, and understanding behavioral health conditions.
Active listening, empathy, motivational interviewing basics, trauma-informed peer support, and group facilitation skills.
WRAP, WHAM, crisis response, de-escalation, suicide prevention, and practical recovery support tools.
Documentation for peer support services, Medicaid billing and compliance awareness, system navigation, community resources, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Co-occurring disorders, culturally responsive support, virtual peer support, self-care, and burnout prevention.
